Well, we've made it thus far. I'm currently in Las Vegas, taking a day off from a week of intense traveling. I don't understand how truck drivers can do it, man. We left on Saturday at 8 p.m. after a full day of packing and house cleaning, so needless to say we didn't make it very far. The next day consisted of Iowa and Nebraska which, let me just tell you, is some truly exciting shit. Just when you think you'd never grow tired of cornfields and silos, these two lovely states keep em' comin'. Around midnight, just when we thought about looking for a hotel, Jen calls me on my walkie-talkie and says that my tire looks funny. I look back and see scraps up rubber flying into the night sky. Flat. We ended up unhitching the trailer and leaving it on the highway for the night, and in the morning got help in fixing it from the friendly folks in Cozad, Nebraska. We went to L+W Tires and found a guy named Tim to help us out. He was a strapping, cornfed young lad, an ex- marine sniper who was sympathetic to our cause.
The next day was Colorado. Don't ever overestimate your driving skills when it comes to the Denver region. Especially when towing a two-thousand pound trailer behind you. Finally those wierd extra gears became useful. We did a twelve hour push that day, assisted by French Roast and caramel corn, and found a place to pass out just miles from the Utah border.
It seems that each day provided us with new challenges to overcome. Fishlake State Park, Utah for instance thunderstormed so hard that we had to pull to the side of the road until it passed. We even saw some hail. Hopefully, the four hour drive from Vegas to Los Angeles will be our easiest yet. More soon. *end transmission*

love,
